The digitalisation of customer procurement processes is unstoppable. It has become impossible to ignore the advantages and convenience of digital purchasing. NORDWEST’s digitalisation strategy offers specialist trade partners the opportunity to automate their own procurement processes so they can stay up-to-date and retain their competitive edge in the market.
NORDWEST connects the ERP systems of the participating supplier partners with the ERP systems of the participating specialist trade partners for a fully automated ordering process. Once any partner has implemented an EDI interface (electronic data interchange) to NORDWEST, it has become a potential partner for the electronic ordering process. A specialist trade partner can reach all connected supplier partners via an EDI interface – and vice versa. To support data exchange, NORDWEST standardises the flow of process data in both directions and assists in the connection process from the test phase to the go-live.
The clearing centre acts as a hub for the initiation of a new electronic connection. All participating partners present themselves via the N.I.S. (NORDWEST Information System) in the EDI self-service area and can initiate new connections to selected business partners at any time. The exchange of business documents via EDI electronically maps the entire process chain – from the order to the order confirmation and dispatch notification through to the invoice.

NORDWEST therefore supports specialist trade partners in the electronic connection of end customer systems and marketplaces in a wide variety of formats. The specialist dealers receive the initiated orders in the format required for automated further processing in the ERP system so that orders can be generated without media discontinuity.
